Cardinals’ Marquise Brown: Officially on injured reserve

  • Rotowire   The Cardinals officially placed Brown (heel) on injured reserve Friday.Coach Jonathan Gannon announced the pending transaction earlier Friday, per Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site, and Brown now will miss the final two games of the campaign. Most of Brown’s 2023 output occurred with Joshua Dobbs and Clayton Tune under center, as he mustered only a 9-134-0 line on 24 targets (of his 51-574-4 on 101 targets overall) after Kyler Murray made his season debut Week 10. A heel injury is to blame for Brown’s abbreviated season, capping him at 14 appearances, with the final two including early departures. He’s an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it remains to be seen if he’ll be retained by Arizona or otherwise opt to move elsewhere.
  • Cardinals’ Victor Dimukeje: Will suit up at Philadelphia Dimukeje (foot) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday’s game at Philadelphia, Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports.Dimukeje was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to practice in full Friday, putting him on track to play in Week 17. And if Owen Pappoe (ankle) sits out Sunday, Dimukeje could be in line for an expanded role.
  • Cardinals’ Zaven Collins: Will play at Philadelphia Rotowire Collins (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday’s game at Philadelphia, Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports. After missing practice Wednesday, Collins was able to manage a limited practice Thursday and upgrade to a full practice Friday, allowing him to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend. He will likely start on the edge in Week 17.
  • Cardinals’ Emari Demercado: Regular role likely in last two games Rotowire Demercado should continue to play a regular role in the Cardinals offense in the final two games of the regular season, Zach Gershman of the team’s official site reports.Speaking about Arizona’s rookie class in general Thursday, coach Jonathan Gannon said, “Reps are gold right now for those guys, and they’ll take the next step.” Since the team’s Week 14 bye, Demercado earned 24 percent of the offensive snaps Week 15 against the 49ers and then 38 percent this past Sunday at Chicago, combining for eight carries for 74 yards and one touchdown and eight catches (on 11 targets) for 46 yards in those games. James Conner is the Cardinals’ unquestioned lead runner, but Demercado figures to continue being a regular option behind him Week 17 in Philadelphia and Week 18 versus the Seahawks.
  • Cardinals’ Kyler Murray: Listed as questionable Rotowire  Murray (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Philadelphia, Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports.Murray returned to practice Friday as a limited participant after missing the previous two sessions. He’ll now have another 45 hours or so to recover ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, with Clayton Tune on hand to fill in if Murray experiences a setback Saturday or Sunday morning. Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday morning that he expects Murray to play, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.
