Atlanta, GA Spending time in Atlanta at Truist Park made me realize sports is a smaller picture that baseball has become a tourist attraction. Its the Dbacks vs the Braves on Sunday I watch on Sunday to give my view on what I see.
The game is a tourism game for fans. Its about pictures, uniforms for those who dont spend time with their loved ones. Then there is the game where people behind me who don’t know Ketel Marte and dont know anything about him. Yes the Dbacks went to the World Series last year but you can tell fans dont care when the Braves shut down they are done.
I bring up Arizona Coyotes but for a long time the Braves have had three stadiums a magical moment that happened 50 years ago on August 8th, 1974 when Hank Aaron hit 715. They have turned into tourist attraction so many hotels and shops around the ballpark. Now they play in an area on what the Coyotes want when you come to watch them play if your team is the Vegas Golden nghts or LA Kings need a night to stay grab a hotel in Scottsdale so you can stay enjoy spend money not just the game but on clothes . They want you to pay higher for parking its $60 dollars to park higher than Chase Field. They had many fans of different teams in the area from the Red Sox fans to the Yankee fans so its not always been Braves town.
Most baseball teams and hockey teams dont have what the Braves have winning divisions, only two World Series but they have tried still some fans just want the titles. It took a while and when I think of Arizona Coyotes what have they done for us to want them attract the game. Braves deal with a lot too big college football town, plus NFL is on Sunday but they put out competitive teams.
I wonder if owner happiness is never enough I know the Coyotes are not in great shape but not one owner has really been happy. I feel like we are in the last leg of the Coyotes. I hope Im wrong but what I see is if the Braves are never happy and they try what about the Coyotes they havent really tried to win recently so wheres the line.
