Saif Ali Khan, who is at present admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, after he was attacked at his home by an unknown intruder and was stabbed six times, is being hailed “as a hero” by his medical team. His team of doctors gave an update on the actor’s health on Friday afternoon. The doctors said that Saif’s condition has improved and he has been shifted out of the ICU to a special room now. The doctors also shared that Saif was able to walk today, and presently, there are no chances of paralysis.
Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, addressed the media and said that Saif acted “as a hero” when he was attacked in his home. “He is doing presently very well. His parameters have improved. He is being shifted from ICU to a special room for him. Today, we will be keeping visitors in check because we want him to take rest,” he said and added that Saif was “fortunate” as he just got saved by a whisker. The knife injury was just 2 mm away from his spine and the spinal cord could have gotten damaged if the knife had got in any deeper. “He is fortunate, he just got saved by 2 mm. The point where the knife ended, spinal cord was just 2 mm away and could have gotten injured. He is very very fortunate,” he said that the actor came in “covered in blood.”
Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, who operated on Saif on Thursday, said Saif was doing “excellent” and added that the doctors made him walk a little bit when they saw him. “He can walk well, there is no problem. There is not much pain, or any other symptoms so looking at his parameters, his reports and all the other injuries, he is safe to be shifted out of the ICU to a special room. Only thing that we have advised is that he has to take rest for some time because of the wounds, on the back specially, which can have chances of infection. And his movements are restricted for a week almost for the most important reason that he had an injury in the spine, which has been repaired, the fluid which was coming out has been repaired, which has a potential chance for infection. That’s why visitors’ movements are strictly restricted for his faster recovery,” he shared and added that it seems like there are no chances of paralysis.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unknown intruder in his home during the early hours of Thursday. An intruder got into his house, where he lives with his wife Kareena Kapoor and sons Taimur (8) and Jeh (3), and was first spotted by Jeh’s nanny. The intruder was walking towards Jeh’s bed when she saw him and he instructed her to stay quiet. A scuffle ensued which alerted the other members of the family. When Saif got to the room, the intruder stabbed him six times. While the family locked him and rushed out of the room, he managed to escape. The police released an image of the suspect yesterday. He has now been captured and is being detailed at Bandra police station.
