Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll: Not concerned with back injury
Carroll said that he isn’t concerned about his back tightness that caused him to be removed from Sunday’s spring game against Texas, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Carroll went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being replaced by Jorge Barrosa in right field in the third inning. Carroll will not play against the Cubs on Monday, and with the Diamondbacks scheduled for an off-day Tuesday, he’ll look to rejoin the lineup for Wednesday’s bout against the Giants.

Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll: Exits with back tightness
Carroll was removed from Sunday’s spring game against the Rangers due to lower-back tightness.
Carroll batted leadoff and started in right field Sunday, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting with the injury. The severity of the issue isn’t yet known, and the 24-year-old should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

Diamondbacks’ Cristian Mena: Makes spring debut
Mena (forearm) tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning in Friday’s 6-1 win over the Royals in Cactus League play.
Mena didn’t pitch after July 25 and finished last season on Triple-A Reno’s injured list due to a forearm strain, but the 22-year-old right-hander looks to be healthy again for spring training. Before getting hurt last season, Mena got the chance to make his MLB debut with the Diamondbacks on July 3 and gave up four earned runs over three innings in a spot start versus the Dodgers. The right-hander is expected to remain on a starter’s development track, but he doesn’t appear to be a serious candidate for Arizona’s Opening Day roster and will likely begin the season in the rotation at Reno.

Diamondbacks’ Jordan Montgomery: Live BP session coming
Montgomery (finger) will throw to live batters on the backfields Tuesday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
By Tuesday, Montgomery will be the lone rotation candidate to not pitch in a Cactus League game. That raises concern that he may not be ready for the first turn of the rotation in the regular season, though it’s not clear yet if he will be among the top five. Montgomery is competing with Brandon Pfaadt and Ryne Nelson for the final spot.
