Arizona Cardinals Notes

  • Cardinals’ Mykal Walker: Arriving in Arizona

The Cardinals signed Walker on Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Walker appeared in all 17 of the Commanders’ regular-season games during his one-year stint in Washington in 2024, recording 21 total tackles while primarily contributing on special teams (75 defensive snaps and 343 special teams snaps). Now in Arizona, the 27-year-old will likely play a similar role and compete for a rotational inside linebacker spot throughout the summer.

  • Cardinals’ Travis Vokolek: Tendered by Arizona

The Cardinals extended a tender on Vokolek on Wednesday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.

By placing a tender on Vokolek (as an exclusive rights free agent), the Cardinals now have the ability to match any offer that another team makes for the 26-year-old tight end out of Nebraska. Vokolek was on the Cardinals’ 53-man roster during the 2024 season, but he only played in Week 4 against the Commanders, when he logged 14 snaps (12 on offense, two on special teams) without showing up on the box score otherwise. Vokolek projects to be a depth option at tight who can contribute on special teams for the Cardinals in 2025.

  • Cardinals’ Greg Dortch: Gets RFA tender

The Cardinals have extended a tender to Dortch, who is a restricted free agent, Darren Urban of the team’s official site reports.

Dortch has become a mainstay in Arizona’s passing game the last three campaigns, averaging a 37.7-363-2.3 line on 51.7 targets per year while missing just two regular-season games. The team will have the right of first refusal for any contract offer that he receives, but if he returns to the Cards, he’ll continue to operate as the third wide receiver behind Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson (hamstring) in 2025.

  • Cardinals’ Jacoby Brissett: Going to Arizona

Brissett is slated to sign a contract with the Cardinals, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Brissett’s arrival in Arizona will mark his sixth different organization as he prepares for the 10th campaign of his career. Overall, he’s made 53 starts in 87 appearances, including five of eight in his second stint with the Patriots last season. Brissett will slot into the backup QB role behind starter Kyler Murray while Clayton Tune slides to No. 3 on the depth chart.

  • Cardinals’ Zay Jones: Re-signs with Arizona

Jones agreed to a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.

Jones recorded eight receptions for 84 yards in 11 games this past season after serving a five-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. The veteran receiver only recorded two starts and was primarily used as a fourth wideout behind Marvin Harrison, Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch, a group that figures to see additional competition added either via free agency or draft picks in the coming weeks.
