Diamondbacks’ Kevin Ginkel: Officially put on IL
The Diamondbacks placed Ginkel (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Ginkel will miss the first few series of the 2025 campaign due to inflammation in his right shoulder, but he shouldn’t need more than a minimum-length stay on the IL. Once healthy, the 31-year-old righty is expected to handle high-leverage situations, though Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk will likely receive the bulk of ninth-inning opportunities.

Diamondbacks’ Bryce Jarvis: Awarded bullpen spot
Jarvis will be on the Diamondbacks‘ Opening Day roster, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Jarvis’ 5.12 FIP in 2024 indicates that his performance didn’t quite live up to his 3.19 ERA. But after finishing the Cactus League schedule with two earned runs allowed and 13 strikeouts through 9.1 innings, Jarvis did a great job proving he still belongs in Arizona’s bullpen. He’ll presumably take on a middle-relief role to begin 2025.

Diamondbacks’ Rene Pinto: DFA’d by Arizona
The Diamondbacks designated Pinto for assignment Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Pinto was claimed off waivers by the Diamondbacks in January. He competed against Jose Herrera for the backup catching duties behind Gabriel Moreno during spring training, but Pinto didn’t crack the Opening Day roster after slashing .263/.263/.421 with two RBI across 19 plate appearances. Pinto should draw interest off waivers by a team in need of depth at catcher.

Diamondbacks’ Shelby Miller: Wins roster spot
The Diamondbacks selected Miller‘s contract from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Miller pitched his way into Arizona’s bullpen by allowing just two runs and striking out 11 batters in seven innings during Cactus League play. He finished the 2024 campaign with a 4.53 ERA over 55.2 frames, however, so Arizona will likely limit the 34-year-old to low-leverage situations to begin the season. Rene Pinto was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Diamondbacks’ Jordan Montgomery: Lands on 60-day IL
The Diamondbacks placed Montgomery (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Montgomery is set to undergo Tommy John surgery sometime next week, which will end his 2025 season before it even starts and will likely force him to miss part of the 2026 season. The Diamondbacks will award his spot on the 40-man roster to lefty Jalen Beeks, who signed a one-year deal with the club. Montgomery is scheduled for free agency after the season.
