AZ Cardinals Recap and Notes

  • Cardinals’ Jacoby Brissett: Expected to start over Minshew

Brissett is on track to keep his starting job after the Cardinals settled for Gardner Minshew as their QB addition at the start of free agency, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

The catch is that Arizona still has time this offseason to add a third quarterback to the mix. Multiple reports suggest Minshew will come in behind Brissett on the depth chart, though Brissett hasn’t been informed of any specific plans for the QB roles, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. Brissett, 33, is entering the second season of a two-year contract, after providing competent QB play during a 2025 campaign where not much went right for the Cardinals. They ended up leading the league in pass attempts, but a new coaching staff may not be as quick to abandon the run, even in trailing game scripts. To that end, the Cardinals are signing power runner Tyler Allgeier to challenge James Conner (ankle) and Trey Benson (knee) in the backfield.

  • Cardinals’ Isaac Seumalo: Lands in Arizona

The Cardinals agreed to terms with Seumalo on a three-year, $31.5 million contract Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

After seven seasons in Philadelphia, Seumalo spent the past three seasons with the Steelers. The 32-year-old interior offensive lineman has started 104 career regular-season contests and figures to slot in at left guard in Arizona after seeing all 827 of his offensive snaps at that spot in Pittsburgh last season.

  • Cardinals’ Roy Lopez: Heading to Arizona

Lopez signed a two-year, $11.5 million contract with the Cardinals on Monday that includes $7 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Lopez served in a rotational role on the defensive line for the Lions in 2025, but the 2021 sixth-rounder could serve in a larger role with the Cardinals if Calais Campbell — who is an unrestricted free agent — does not return. Lopez recorded 30 tackles (11 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and one pass defense across 17 regular-season games for Detroit in 2025. It’ll be his second stint in Arizona, having played with the Cardinals from 2023 to 2024.

  • Cardinals’ Kendrick Bourne: Scooped up by Arizona

Bourne is slated to signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Bourne’s pending addition brings a more reliable No. 3 WR to Arizona than Greg Dortch, who is an unrestricted free agent. In 16 regular-season games in 2025, Bourne filled in nicely in a 49ers receiving corps beset by injuries, finishing with 37 catches (on 53 targets) for 551 yards and no touchdowns. Bourne will line up behind holdovers Marvin Harrison (foot) and Michael Wilson with the Cardinals.
