Diamondbacks’ Jacob Amaya: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Amaya was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Amaya put together a productive spring training after joining Arizona as a non-roster invitee. The infielder batted .341 with two home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and three stolen bases over 44 at-bats in 17 contests. Amaya will likely begin the 2026 campaign with Triple-A Reno, and he certainly did enough during the spring to potentially warrant an elevation to the major-league roster down the road this season.

Diamondbacks’ Philip Abner: Sent to Reno
Abner was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Abner appeared in nine contests with Arizona during spring training, giving up five runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out 12 batters over 9.2 innings. The nine appearances is tied with fellow relief pitcher Ryan Thompson for the team lead to this point. Abner produced a 4.91 ERA and 2.18 WHIP with five strikeouts over 3.2 innings in five appearances with the Diamondbacks during the 2025 regular season, and he’ll now wait for his next shot with the major-league roster.

Diamondbacks’ Alek Thomas: Hits in four straight
Thomas went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Saturday’s spring game against the Rangers.
The 25-year-old gave the Diamondbacks an early lead with a three-run homer in the third inning. It was the second home run of the Cactus League for Thomas, who has hit safely in all four games since returning from the World Baseball Classic. He started in left field Saturday while Jordan Lawlar patrolled center field. Those two have bounced between left and center field this spring, as Torey Lovullo evaluates his optimal outfield alignment ahead of Opening Day. Eventually, left fielder Lourdes Gurriel (knee) will return, and the manager will have to figure out how best to deploy all three.

Diamondbacks’ Jonathan Loaisiga: Clinches roster spot
The Diamondbacks informed Loaisiga on Saturday that he’s secured a spot on the Opening Day roster, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Arizona will officially add Loaisiga to the 26-man roster shortly before Thursday’s season opener in Los Angeles. The right-hander posted a 7:2 K:BB while allowing three earned runs on eight hits over seven innings during the Cactus League. While Loaisiga is likely to begin the season in middle relief, he could earn higher-leverage opportunities quickly in an unsettled bullpen.

Diamondbacks’ Ryne Nelson: Makes final Cactus League start
Nelson allowed four hits and struck out seven over five scoreless innings in Saturday’s spring start against Texas.
Nelson finished out the Cactus League in style. The right-hander recorded a 3.18 ERA with 23 strikeouts and two walks over 17 spring innings. Nelson will look to carry the good work into his next scheduled start March 27, the second game of the regular season against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
