Suns ref and recap

  • Suns’ Collin Gillespie: Getting back on track

Gillespie finished Tuesday’s 125-123 loss to Denver with 11 points (4-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 27 minutes.

Gillespie has now scored in double figures in five consecutive contests, which comes on the heels of a three-game cold spell where he was held to single digits. Over these past five outings, the sharpshooter has averaged 16.2 points, 4.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 3.8 three-pointers in 30.6 minutes per game while shooting 43.2 percent from deep.

  • Suns’ Royce O’Neale: Delivers stellar line in return

O’Neale (knee) tallied 17 points (5-8 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 28 minutes Tuesday in the Suns‘ 125-123 loss to the Nuggets.

After missing the Suns’ previous three games due to left knee soreness, O’Neale returned to his usual spot in the starting five Tuesday and supplied one of his better all-around lines of the season. O’Neale should remain a reliable streaming option for three-pointers and steals while he continues to handle a 25-plus-minute starting role, but his low usage rate (14.4 percent) and field-goal percentage (41.9 percent) cap his overall fantasy upside.

  • Suns’ Grayson Allen: Returns to action with 21 points

Allen (knee) chipped in 21 points (8-19 FG, 5-12 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Tuesday’s 125-123 loss to the Nuggets.

Allen was held out of the Suns‘ previous four games due to left knee injury management, and though he operated with a bit of a cap on his minutes in his return, the eight-year swingman was still able to provide fantasy managers with useful numbers in his return. Despite his strong showing Tuesday, Allen won’t necessarily see a major uptick in his minutes moving forward, as Phoenix should soon get Dillon Brooks (hand) back from an extended absence and will need to find playing time for him.

  • Suns’ Jalen Green: Makes impact with 21 points

Green racked up 21 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT), six rebounds and six assists over 29 minutes during Tuesday’s 125-123 loss to the Nuggets.

Since returning from injury, Green has delivered what was expected of him, with a productive tenure in Houston foretelling continued success. He’s averaging 22.2 points per game in March, but he has shown immense upside with several games well above that number.

  • Suns’ Devin Booker: Misses potential game winner

Booker posted 22 points (5-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 11-13 FT), three rebounds and eight assists over 35 minutes during Tuesday’s 125-123 loss to the Nuggets.

Booker’s last-second three caromed off the rim, denying the Suns a much-needed victory. Despite the disappointing end, Booker led the Suns in scoring and received solid support from the rest of the first unit. The All-Star has averaged 28.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds in March.
