Ginkel didn’t allow a hit, walk or run while striking out one over one-third of an inning to earn the save in Sunday’s 5-3 win over the Reds.

Brandyn Garcia was given the first chance at the save, but he was removed after the three-batter minimum. Ginkel allowed one baserunner on an error but struck out Tyler Stephenson to preserve the lead. Ginkel has had a shaky August, allowing seven runs over 8.2 innings, which has led to limited opportunities for him to be a factor in Arizona’s closer committee. For the year, he’s at a 3.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB while adding two saves, 11 holds and a blown save over 55 innings.

Bratt allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over three innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Sunday.

Bratt gave up a three-spot in the third inning, and the Diamondbacks opted to go to the bullpen early after that. His teammates got him off the hook with a comeback win, but this was a second straight shaky showing for Bratt after he opened August with a pair of quality starts. He’s given up six runs on nine hits and six walks over six innings across his last two outings. Bratt is at a 4.54 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 28:25 K:BB through 39.2 innings over nine starts this season, five of which have been shorter than five innings. He’s a risky fantasy option even heading into a favorable road matchup versus the Giants for his next game.

The Diamondbacks recalled Carrillo from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Reno on Monday but will quickly return to the majors since Michael Soroka (arm) was placed on the injured list. Carrillo has pitched well in his first eight career big-league appearances this year, allowing just one earned run with a 15:8 K:BB over 13.2 innings.

The Diamondbacks designated Littell for assignment Sunday.

The veteran right-hander joined Arizona on a one-year contract Aug. 9 after parting ways with the Nationals, but he’s been dumped from the big-league roster after surrendering 10 earned runs across 12 frames out of the bullpen. Littell has a 5.21 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 73:39 K:BB over 124.1 innings overall this year, and he’s unlikely to generate much interest outside of teams in desperate need of rotation innings.
