TEMPE, Ariz Cardinals head coach Michael LaFleur confirmed Monday afternoon that left tackle Paris Johnson jr, will undergo surgery and headed to the injured list.
Johnson tore his biceups in Sundays 36-24 loss to the New York Giants and will miss the rest of the season.
“I don’t know exactly what it’s going to happen ,but it’s going to happen soon to obviously get the process going,” LaFleur said. “I feel for him obviously.. and it sucks for him first and foremost. Sucks obviously for the Arizona Cardinals, our offense, this team. but you know, this is NFL football. here we are in October show goes on
It is the third season cut short my answering for Johnson, whose 24 and 25 season ended with knee injuries. Rookie seventh-round pick Jayden Williams is expected to take over at left tackle.
LaFleur also confirmed rookie running back Jeremiyah Love tweaked his other ankle against the Giants– not the same ankle he injured in the preseason.
The injury news capped a rough Monday after Arizona’s third straight loss. LaFleur shot down any quarterback change after Jacoby Brissett three interception game, answered “No” when asked Sunday. Brissett finish 21 of 35 for 166 yards and two touchdowns, but his final pass was intercepted by Deonte Banks and returned 98 yards for the sealing touchdown.
“This one’s going to sting,” LaFleur said. “It’s not going to be the most fun ride home.”
