Suber holds a one-shot lead on the field with Fleetwood only two back seeking to win the final tournament before the U.S. Open
Energetic fans, pristine weather and favorable greens helped tell the story of the third round of the 2026 RBC Canadian Open. Moving Day concluded with a crowded leaderboard that should lead to a compelling Sunday of golf.
Several players had at least a share of the lead at one point on Saturday. In fact, a whopping nine were tied atop the leaderboard until Wyndham Clark moved ahead of the pack when he birdied 18 to finish his round with a 7-under 63. Clark was ultimately passed up on the leaderboard by Bud Cauley and Jackson Suber, who started off hot but cooled a bit on the back nine, moving into sole possession of the lead after he birdied 18.
Suber, who is 13-under for the tournament, went 4-under on Saturday, which included five birdies and just one bogey. The 26-year-old is in pursuit of his first win on the PGA Tour.
Cauley and Suber jumped to the top of the leaderboard after Jesper Svensson carded a double bogey on 17. Svensson, who started his back nine with three consecutive birdies, was able to salvage a par on 18. Svensson is T3 alongside Clark, Tommy Fleetwood and Brice Garnett.
Cauley, like Suber, is also in pursuit of his first win on the PGA Tour. He more than made up for his three bogeys by draining seven birdies. Cauley responded to his bogey on 11 by making birdie on four of the next five holes, which included nearly making an ace on 14.
Saturday was Clark’s best score in seven career rounds at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley. In his last 11 rounds on the PGA Tour, he has recorded a score of 68 or better 10 times, including three rounds of 63 or better.
Clark ruffled some feathers on Saturday when he reminded the home crowd of the USA men’s Olympic hockey team’s overtime win over Canada in the gold medal game. He wore the jersey of Jack Hughes (the player who scored the game-winning goal in that game) while making a birdie putt on the rowdy par-3 14th hole, aka “The Rink.”
Fleetwood, who is seemingly always in the mix, played near flawless golf during the first 16 holes that included an eagle on No. 1 and birdies on the 12th and 13th. An errant shot on No. 17, however, led to Fleetwood’s first and only bogey of the day. He finished with a par on 18 to record a 3-under 67 for the day.
Saturday was a big day for Billy Horschel, who signed for a 6-under 64 while moving to 10 under for the round. The 2014 FedEx Cup winner, Horschel entered the tournament with some momentum after he qualified for the upcoming U.S. Open at the Ohio qualifier.
At the opposite end of the spectrum was Benjamin James, the decorated former college golfer making his PGA Tour debut. After starting the day with the lead, James finished Saturday T59 after making nine bogeys.
It was also a trying day for Brooks Koepka, who acknowledged after the round that he was dealing with discomfort in his left arm and elbow that undoubtedly contributed to his 2-over 72 that dropped him 25 spots to T32. He did finish on a good note with birdies on 14 and 15 after being 4-over through 10.
“The whole warm-up, I felt fine, I was absolutely good,” he said after the round. “Then got to the range and went to grip the club, and I just couldn’t even grip it. So it lasted — it was all day. Felt better the last few holes. I don’t know if that’s just the meds kicked in or what it is. But hopefully we’ll figure it out now.”
Leader
1. Jackson Suber (-13): Suber was rock solid during the tournament’s first three days. Through 54 holes, Suber has just four bogeys while making 17 birdies. He showed resolve on Saturday after missing a chance at birdie on No. 15 and temporarily giving up the lead after making a bogey on No. 16. Suber responded by making par on No. 17 and getting his third birdie on No. 18 in as many days. Suber has been money on the last three holes. He’s a combined 5-under on those holes for the tournament, which includes six birdies and just one bogey.

Clark and Fleetwood again find themselves in contention after being in this same spot a week ago at the Memorial. Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, has been on a roll since missing the cut at the PGA Championship. He won The CJ Cup Byron Nelson and finished third last week at the Memorial. Fleetwood, who also missed the cut at the PGA Championship, finished T4 at the Memorial after briefly having the lead late on Sunday. The 35-year-old is in search of his first win on the PGA Tour since his 2025 FedEx Cup victory.

Adverse weather is expected to hit the area overnight and could possibly carry into Sunday’s round. That will undoubtedly impact play, especially in the rough. Whoever is able to keep the ball in the fairway and out of harm’s way is going to have a significant advantage on Sunday, especially down the stretch. That should give Suber an edge, given his aforementioned success on holes 16-18 during the tournament’s first three days.
