Sewald picked up the save in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Nationals, striking out one batter across a scoreless ninth inning.

Sewald blew his save chance in his last outing Tuesday against the Athletics. He was much better Friday, needing just nine pitches (seven strikes) to secure the win for Arizona and collect his 24th save of the season, which is tied with Jhoan Duran for fifth-most in the majors. Sewald has a 4.58 ERA and 0.94 WHIP across 37.1 innings this season.

Carroll went 1-for-3 with two walks and two steals in Friday’s 3-2 win over Washington.

Carroll recorded his 12th and 13th steals of the season Friday, and it was the second time that he has logged two steals in a game. He also extended his hitting streak to five games, and he has gone 7-for-28 (.250) with three steals, two home runs, four RBI and two triples in seven games since the All-Star break.

Rodriguez (9-3) earned the win against the Nationals on Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four across six innings.

It wasn’t exactly a smooth outing, as Rodriguez allowed at least two baserunners in three of six innings he pitched. However, he limited the damage to a two-run homer from Dylan Crews in the fourth inning, and Rodriguez ended his outing with 12 whiffs and seven groundouts on 98 pitches (63 strikes). It was the 13th quality start of the season for Rodriguez, which is tied for fourth-most in the majors, and his 2.64 ERA over 122.2 innings is seventh-best among qualified starters. His next start is lined up for next week on the road against the Pirates.
