Arenado went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday’s 8-4 win over the Yankees.

The Yankees put up a four spot in the third inning, but Arenado’s slam in the fifth canceled it out. The Diamondbacks were able to hand on from there. Over his last 13 games, Arenado has gone 18-for-46 (.391) with six homers and 13 RBI. He is now batting .247 with a .777 OPS, 27 homers, 78 RBI, 73 runs scored, 23 doubles, one triple and four stolen bases through 146 contests this season.

Burnes allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Sunday.

Burnes served up three home runs during the third inning, prompting an early exit as the Diamondbacks can’t afford to cede ground as they lag behind in the playoff race. Over his three starts so far, Burnes has surrendered nine runs across 10.1 innings with an 8:4 K:BB. He’s now been tagged for five runs, and it’s clear he’s still got some more rust to shake off following his return from June 2025 Tommy John surgery. Burnes is tentatively projected to make his last start of the regular season at San Diego.

Morillo (5-4) earned the win after walking one and striking out one over 1.1 hitless innings in Saturday’s 5-3 victory over the Yankees.

Morillo entered with two outs in the eighth and kept the game tied at 3-3 through the top of the ninth before Pavin Smith’s two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame gave the Diamondbacks a much-needed win. Morillo has pitched well since the All-Star break, giving up just three earned runs across 24.1 innings in 25 outings, for an elite 1.11 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with a 26:9 K:BB over that stretch.
